I woke up much earlier than the two in the bedroom, but I had an F1 race to watch so I wasn’t bothered! I quietly moved around the apartment and set myself in the living room with my headphones. To my pleasure, the Monza race had been posted onto the Facebook page I follow, but there was no qualifying. Not wanting to miss out on any info, I risked a Youtube to get a summary of qualifying. I’m glad I found a video and even more happy that I didn’t find out the result in doing so. The qualifying was topsy turvy with rain delays extending the session to two hours and the result was a mismatched grid. On to the race, it was completely dry and I was excited to see some of midfield fight to stay at the front.
On around lap 20, my roomies emerged. My tummy had already rumbled so I’d made myself some eggs and toast from what Vanessa had in her fridge but these guys were on for a full on breakfast. Kaila was on her way to join us so V and Kyle worked away in the kitchen while I carried on watching the race. It was almost noon by the time Kaila arrived and we all ate. It was Kaila’s first time seeing V’s digs and meeting the boyfriend, it felt kind of formal sitting down to eat at the small dining table. The chefs did well, it was a yummy breakfast that was gone in minutes. We sat around the table chatting for an hour or so, mostly about Tesla, before Kaila had to go. While Kyle and V had a shower and organised themselves to leave, I carried on watching F1.
I helped V&K carry some of V’s stuff down to the car since she was half-moving into her new place over the next few weeks. I said goodbye to Kyle then, the couple were off to explore San Fran a bit before heading to airport for Kyle to go back to Reno. I spent the next couple of hours on the balcony finishing the race, happy that Ricciardo had such a good drive and made it onto the podium. I chatted to Dan for a bit, enjoying the view of the Bay Bridge infront of me and the uncharacteristic warm weather, then head out to the closest supermarket to get some groceries.
The streets of San Francisco were dead being a public holiday afternoon so I didn’t much like walking the few blocks to the nearest Safeway. It was a small supermarket but I got everything I needed to feed myself the next couple of days and then some. I called Mum and Dad on my walk home, my backpack stuffed with food and carrying my spinach in hand. I was still talking to Mum and Dad by the time I’d finished cooking up some pasta with sausage, cheese and spinach so I kicked them off to go eat it. Sitting on the balcony again, I listened to a podcast and watched the lights come on the bridge.
Vanessa came home around 8pm just as I was getting some admin work done on my laptop. We hung out for a bit before calling it a night around 11pm. She offered me half of her bed but I’d been perfectly comfortable on the couch yesterday that I was happy to stay there.
