Predictably, we woke pretty late and after much snoozing around in bed, we presented ourselves in the kitchen where Dan discovered that my stomach was still trying to recover from Half Dome. After feeding me pork chops, I made some eggs and Dan whipped up smoothies that filled us up for the rest of the day.
After a bit of couch sitting, we retreated to his room to watch a bit more Mars and I had a long afternoon nap that lasted a solid two hours. Dan was in disbelief at my exhaustion. When we emerged at around 5pm, we were both hungry and thirsty. We heated up some left over pasta and sat outside under the misters that Debbie turned on for us. We sat enjoying the view and chatting until Debbie came out to join us with a glass of wine, then we did more of the same. When Dan’s Dad Peter came out as well, we had a full house and continued swapping stories. Dan and I had planned to go out to a drive-in movie, but it was so nice just sitting out and talking that we never made it. Instead, around 7:30pm, we went to the Tavern Grille, our favourite local, to play some pool and grab dinner.
The Tavern Grille’s Wednesday food specials meant the place was crowded, but the little pool table alcove was sitting empty just for us. With a pitcher of beer, a $6 plate of wings and plenty of quarters from Debbie, we were set for the night. Unfortunately, I got my arse kicked so we were done after a few rounds. Dan drove us home where I immediately fell asleep for the second night while he struggled to close his eyes.
